Allotments

AllotmentsAllotments are a great way to grow your own food - it's fun, saves you money and is a sustainable and healthy way to put fresh food on your table, especially in the light of rising food prices - because:

  • Allotments cut down on food miles.
  • Produce seasonal and fresh produce.
  • If you are concerned about GM foods and chemicals then you can control what you eat.
  • Provide an enjoyable and productive way of keeping you fit and healthy - and a good way to ensure you eat your 5 a day!

Latest Allotment News (July 2010):  Alveston Parish Council has secured some land, generously donated to them, for residents of the Parish to use and the site is now a hive of activity.  The campaign group Extra Allotments for Thornbury, part of Sustainable Thornbury, are in negotiation with South Gloucestershire Council over part of the land behind the Leisure Centre to be used as allotment.
